I finally tried a razor cut on a client's fine hair and lost 2 inches I didn't plan on
Had a client in Davenport last Tuesday with super fine, shoulder length hair who wanted more movement, so I went with a razor instead of my usual point cutting. Big mistake on my part because I got a little too aggressive near the crown and took off about 2 inches more than we talked about, and she just kind of went quiet in the chair. I apologized, styled it wavy to hide the layers, and she actually tipped me 20 percent and rebooked, but my stomach was in knots the whole time. Turns out razors can be great for fine hair if you keep the angle super shallow, which I did not do. Anyone got a rule of thumb for how much they take off on a first pass with a razor on fine texture?
