Took a load cell course on a whim, now I check rigging math twice
Signed up for that load cell calibration class at the union hall in Cleveland on a slow weekend. I figured I knew my crane math pretty solid after 9 years on the seat. But when we ran the numbers on a 40-ton pick with a 2-part line and angled slings, I was off by almost 15% of the rated capacity. That honestly scared me. Has anyone else caught a big mistake in their head math after going back to the basics? I'm not trusting my gut for lifts above 20 tons anymore without double checking the chart.
