Thought writer's group was a waste of $180 until a prompt made me finish my first short story
I paid $180 for a 6 week online writer's group back in March and figured I'd wasted my money after the first two sessions, which were mostly people talking about their cats. Then the leader gave us one prompt: write a scene where a character lies about something small. I wrote 900 words in one sitting that night, the first time I'd finished anything in two years. Now I use that same trick when I'm stuck, just a small lie or secret to get the scene moving. Anyone got a prompt like that which actually pushed them to finish something?
