The $2.99 health app subscription I made fun of my wife for finally got me
I spent 6 months laughing at my wife for paying $2.99 a month to a sleep tracking app. Thought it was snake oil, who needs an app to tell you to put your phone down, right? Then my new job switched me to 5am shifts and my sleep went to garbage. She showed me the data, my deep sleep dropped from 1.5 hours to 40 minutes over three weeks. The app's alarm wakes me during light sleep, not when I'm in the middle of a REM cycle. It actually works. I still hate giving them my sleep patterns, heart rate, and location, but the tradeoff is worth it when I don't feel like a zombie at 9am. Anyone else give in to a subscription you thought was dumb because the data was too accurate?
Wakes me during light sleep" got me. I thought that was the biggest marketing lie ever, like how do you even know what stage my sleep is in from a phone on my nightstand? But my wife has been using hers for a year and she swears by it too. The fact that it caught your deep sleep dropping that fast is actually kind of scary, like that's real health info your doctor would want to know. I might have to eat my words and try it out before my own sleep gets any worse.
