My aunt's old VHS tapes got me doubting every random clip now

We cleaned out her basement last week and found tapes from 1998 of our family reunion. I watched one and almost swore my cousin was there, but he never showed up that year. Now I can't even trust old home movies, has anyone else started double-checking family footage since deepfakes got good?
