Pro tip: stop using default settings on deepfake detection tools
I kept getting false positives on a 2023 campaign ad until I adjusted the lighting threshold down to 0.6, now it catches the actual glitchy mouth movements way better, has anyone else messed with their detection sliders?

Oh man, I had a similar rabbit hole with audio detection tools last year. Tweaked one slider and suddenly my own voice was flagged as synthetic for a solid week.

Read some researcher saying most people never touch those sliders, they just assume the defaults are perfect. Tried lowering the lighting threshold myself after that and it made a HUGE difference on older videos.

Wait, did you see that same study from that UX researcher at Google? Honestly I read that too and it blew my mind how many people just trust the factory settings on everything.

Yeah, but does lowering it that much start flagging legit videos with bad lighting? Sounds like a tradeoff worth knowing about before tweaking it.
