Seeing a deepfake of my favorite singer live on stage got me really thinking!

Last month, I was scrolling through social media and found a clip of a famous singer performing a new song. It looked so real, the voice and moves were perfect! I shared it with friends, and we were all excited. Then, someone said the singer wasn't even in that city that day. It was a deepfake! I was totally fooled. Now, I'm super careful with videos I see online. It showed me how simple it is to create fake things that seem true. My belief in what I watch is totally different now!

Wild! I saw a news bit saying soon we won't be able to tell real video from fake at all. It's getting way too easy, and it's kinda everywhere now.

How do you even fight that? It's already bad with politics but I heard scammers are using it to fake family members begging for money. Once you can't trust a video call, what's left to believe? We're gonna need some totally new way to check facts, but who even gets to decide what's real?

What if we just stopped trusting video calls for serious stuff? My take is we go back to old school code words with family for emergencies. It's a band aid fix, but honestly the tech is moving faster than any real answer. Feels like we're all gonna get burned a few times before things get better.

My friend's dad almost got taken by one of those deepfake scams. It was a fake video call from someone pretending to be his grandson, just like @faith_hart20 mentioned. Now he questions everything he sees online, and it's scary how trust is fading so fast.
