Spent 3 hours trying to troubleshoot a DNS issue that was just a loose Ethernet cable
I was helping a buddy set up his new office above the old Savoyard building downtown, and his internet kept dropping every 10 minutes on the dot. I went through every possible setting on the router, reset the modem twice, even called Comcast to have them check the line from the street. Finally after 3 hours, I bumped my knee against his desk and the cable wiggled loose - it was never fully clicked in from the start. Has anyone else ever chased a tech problem that turned out to be something that simple?

That bit about it dropping every 10 minutes on the dot is what gets me. Usually a loose cable gives you random drops, not a consistent cycle like that, which makes you think it's some deep software timing issue. Makes me wonder how many other "intermittent network problems" are just cables that got slightly bumped.

Actually it's usually the DHCP lease renewing.

Feel your pain man, spent 4 hours once on a bad HDMI cable that just needed reseating.
