Blew a fuel line on I-10 outside Houston yesterday

Was hauling a load of pipe and the #6 injector return line just let go at 65 mph. Had to coast to the shoulder and patch it with a chunk of hose and two clamps I keep in my box. Anyone else ever had a high-pressure line fail out of nowhere?

Regular checks" is cute until you're at 65 mph with a line that didn't give a single warning, @claire_grant34. Last year my coolant hose burst right after I checked it, so sometimes parts just fail.

@max_hernandez27 they'll never admit when a part just randomly lets go... it's like they think every hose lasts forever.

No way, I'm calling this one out. The high pressure lines are the most reliable part of the whole system, and if it blew it was because you weren't doing your regular checks. I've seen guys skip the quarterly inspection and then blame the truck when a line goes bad from being old or rubbed against something. Injector lines don't just "let go" without a reason like corrosion or a loose clamp they missed. If you're patching it with hose and clamps instead of a proper replacement, you're just asking for a bigger fire or a total diesel spraydown down the road.
