Tried using a cheap fuel injector puller on a 6.0 Powerstroke last week

I was swapping injectors on a 2005 F-350 and figured the $20 amazon puller would work fine. It bent on the second injector and I wasted 3 hours wrestling it out with a pry bar. Is this just a case of you get what you pay for or did I miss a trick with the cheap ones?

you get what you pay for" is definitely part of it but honestly the real trick nobody talks about is prepping the injector bore first. if you don't hit it with some penetrating oil and let it soak for 15 minutes, even a Snap-On puller will fight you. also, those cheap pullers are usually made of soft chinesium that flexes way too easy. next time just spring for a half decent one from OTC or even rent one from AutoZone for free, it'll save you the headache. that pry bar move is sketchy on a 6.0 too, too easy to crack the fuel rail if you slip lol

Reminds me of the time I tried to save money on a brake job and ended up replacing the whole caliper.

You ever notice how the same logic applies to pretty much everything, not just tools? Like, @logan_mitchell, that brake job story reminds me of cheap extension cords... you buy the dollar store one and it melts halfway through using it, then you gotta go buy the real one anyway. Same with injector pullers, same with brake parts. You either spend a little more upfront, or you spend a lot more later fixing what broke. That penetrating oil soak is a game changer though, nobody wants to admit how much time a 15 minute wait saves you.
