Best week I ever had in my bunker build was when the radon test came back normal
I spent a whole month stressing about sealing my shelter floor in Springfield, Missouri after pouring concrete. Did three different tests with a $40 kit from the hardware store and every single one came back under 2 pCi/L. That alone saved me from having to install a fancy ventilation system I couldn't afford. Has anyone else gotten lucky with their air quality tests or did you have to rip stuff out and redo it?

...and honestly I think I just got lucky more than anything. Used the cheap charcoal canister kit because I'm cheap and impatient, placed it dead center of the room like a dummy. Probably shoulda tested in different spots but after the third one came back low I just called it good. My concrete was a basic Quikrete mix and I only waited like two and a half weeks before testing, so maybe the humidity was just right or the ground under my slab is drier than I thought. Now I'm worried I just jinxed myself and my next test will read like a uranium mine all of a sudden.

Wait, did you actually use one of those cheap charcoal canister kits or the continuous monitor type? Cause I've heard those $40 ones can be super finicky about placement and humidity levels, and im just wondering if you got lucky or if your seal job was really that good. What was your concrete mix and cure time, like did you let it sit for the full month before testing? I'm asking because im in a similar spot with my build in the Ozarks and the last thing i wanna do is drop cash on a radon mitigation system if im just gonna have to tear out the flooring later. Also, did you test in different seasons or just once and call it good?
