Unpopular opinion: Fancy dredge tech can't replace good old experience

Honestly, we had a job where the new sonar mapping failed. Tbh, it caused delays because we trusted it too much. Ngl, should we be training more on manual methods instead?

Watch me fail at both the new sonar and the old manual charts in the same week.

Look, one sonar glitch doesn't make all fancy tech bad. Tbh, manual methods have their own flaws and can slow things down too. Ngl, we had a similar issue where old hands missed something basic. Maybe the fix is better training on the tech, not just falling back on manual stuff.

Right, because the answer is always more training videos. Next they'll have us doing trust falls with the sonar unit. Sure, tech fails big and loud, but at least when a person messes up it's a quiet, private shame. Sometimes it feels like we're just choosing between a flashy error and a boring one. Let's train the machines to laugh at us when we miss the obvious thing, then maybe we'll be even.

Forget training, just let tech and people check each other, @victor755.
