Tried the fiberglass tape vs paper tape on a ceiling joint in Austin

I had to do a butt joint in a hot garage last week and figured I'd finally test fiberglass tape against paper tape on the same job. The fiberglass went on faster but the paper tape gave me a way cleaner finish with less bubbling after the second coat. Anyone else find paper tape still beats fiberglass on ceilings?

Paper tape actually shrinks less in high humidity (Texas, right?).

Yeah @ray_williams nailed it, humidity here makes paper tape the way to go unless you enjoy patching bubbles.

Texas weather is brutal on drywall work. Found that out the hard way my first summer here. @ben_lewis is right, paper tape holds up way better than mesh when the humidity kicks in. Learned to keep a fan running low and mud thin so it sets before the moisture gets to it.
