PSA: My wireless charger was getting dangerously hot, but a simple clean fixed it completely

I noticed my wireless charging pad was getting super hot every time I used it, which seemed like a safety hazard. I almost threw it out thinking it was faulty and might cause a fire. Before spending money on a new one, I looked up common issues and found advice about debris in the ports. I gently cleaned the charging area on the pad and my phone's back with a dry cloth and a toothpick. There was a bunch of dust and lint stuck in there that I hadn't seen. After cleaning, the charger works perfectly and stays cool to the touch. This quick fix saved me from buying a replacement and made my gadget safe again. Always check for gunk buildup if your charger acts up, it could save you trouble.

Cleaning is just a band-aid for a bad charger.

Yeah like kim.nina said, thick case was my issue too. Cleaning helped.

Yeah, thick phone cases can mess with the charging too! My old case was just a bit too chunky and made my charger warm up. Switched to a thinner one and it stopped. A clean charging spot on the phone back is key, lint loves to hide in those rings. Good reminder to check that stuff before assuming the hardware is broken.

Nah fr I've never had a case mess with wireless charging, even the bulky armor ones. Phones are made to work through them now. If your charger's getting warm, that sounds like a charger or phone issue, not the case. People just blame the case cause it's easy, but it's usually something else wrong. Cleaning lint is good but that's about it, cases are nbd for charging anymore.
