My take: Gene edits in food crops are overly feared.

We need biotech to feed everyone, risks and all!

Saw a report that gene editing helps crops resist disease better, so we get more food. @hannah_jenkins94, saving natural seeds is smart, but this tech can really help too.

Look at the Svalbard seed vault storing natural seeds for a reason. Letting a few big companies own the genetic code of our food is a dangerous kind of control. We could lose the original crops for good if we replace them all.

Yeah, but I'm not sure it's that bad. Those companies have patents, but seed banks and local growers keep old varieties going. Svalbard is just a backup, not proof we're losing everything. Most people eat improved crops without problems anyway.

Ever try finding old corn seeds... it's like they vanished?
