That $3 shower splash guard I laughed at... actually works
My roommate stuck one of those curved plastic things on the bathtub edge to stop water from leaking onto the floor. I said no way that cheap thing works, looks like a toy. After three weeks of zero puddles and no moldy grout, I grabbed one on my own from Home Depot. Anybody else get proven wrong by something dumb and cheap around the house?

My buddy swears by those splash guards too. He put one in his kid's bathroom after I made fun of him for buying it. He told me he had to scrub the tile like three times with vinegar water before the adhesive would stick. But now six months later it's still up and he says the floor is finally dry for the first time in years.

You ever try one of those silicone sink strainers that catch food scraps, @wyatt135? I thought they were a gimmick until I got tired of plunging my disposal every other week. Now I just dump the whole thing in the trash, no slimy hands, no regrets. That little piece of rubber probably saved me from a plumbing bill.

Ha, yeah I get that. I laughed at those magnetic screen doors for sliding patio doors. Looked like a cheap piece of mesh and velcro. But after watching my kids let flies in every time they went out, I caved. Works way better than I thought. Now the only thing I'm wondering is how long does that splash guard actually hold up before the adhesive lets go? Did you put it on perfectly clean tile or did you have to scrub like crazy first?
