Lol, all this talk about automating everything, but my dumb house is just fine. Sometimes simple is better.

My buddy's solar setup has a smart inverter that shuts off during peak hours. It saves money but sometimes cuts power when he needs it most. That kind of automation messes with how we use energy in ways we don't expect. We add tech to fix one problem and end up with a new headache. Makes you question if all this smart stuff is really an upgrade.

Stumble into enough houses delivering mail to see where fancy tech trips up. Watched a guy cuss out his smart doorbell for missing a package delivery while the old mail slot just worked. Sometimes automation adds new problems that need fixing, like systems that forget your settings or stop talking to each other. My neighbor's lights turn on at 3am for no reason now. That simple dumb switch never needed a software update.

Saying your house is "just fine" is totally valid, but automation doesn't have to make things complex. Stuff like a thermostat that programs itself actually removes hassle instead of adding it. They can coexist without replacing simple and reliable.
