Neighbor's free foundation advice cost me $900 in Amarillo
Honestly, my neighbor Bob told me I didn't need a foundation repair guy and could just spray the cracks with expanding foam. I did that back in March and the crack grew from 2 feet to almost 6 feet across my slab within two weeks. The real repair guy said the foam actually trapped water and made it worse, so I ended up spending $900 on mudjacking that week. Has anyone else taken free DIY advice from a neighbor and paid for it later in Amarillo?
Oh man, that really stinks. I mean, I get it, Bob probably meant well and was just trying to save you a few bucks, but that's the kind of advice that ends up costing way more in the long run. It's wild how something that seems so simple like foam can actually mess things up worse. I've seen people around here trust a buddy over a pro and then end up kicking themselves later, so you're definitely not alone in this. Hopefully that new fix holds up and you don't have to think about that crack again for a long while.
