inHit 500 alarm panels installed without a single false alarm call
My buddy who does HVAC told me about this one time he installed a furnace for this old couple and their cat kept jumping up on the thermostat and changing the temperature. He came back three times before he figured it out. They ended up putting a little guard over the thermostat. Anyway, I don't keep a count like you do but I have been doing low voltage stuff for about 12 years now and I remember every single call back. It's funny how the bad ones stick with you. I still think about this one house where the homeowner kept tripping the breaker by plugging in a space heater on the same circuit as the alarm.

Wendy, you mentioned chasing your tail, and that got me thinking. Sometimes the problem isn't even what you're looking at, but the tool you're using to look at it. I had a situation once where I was certain a pipe was leaking, but it turned out my moisture meter was just reading high from the humidity in the room. Have you ever had a tool or a method throw you off like that?

inCritique from a book club member made me ditch my sticky note annotations
What worked for me was just using a sticky note for three weeks straight until it felt normal.

inPaid $200 for a campus free speech zone permit. Denied 3 hours later.
Man, that's rough. They basically took your money and said "nope, too spicy for us." It's like paying for a parking spot only to find they towed your car anyway. Reminds me of how every store now wants you to download their app for a deal, then hits you with five popups before you can even see the sale prices. Just another example of rules that exist to be obstacles, not solutions.
