Counted 27 pickup trucks idling outside my kid's school and it changed how I talk about EVs
Last Tuesday I sat in the pickup line at my daughter's school in Boise and counted 27 trucks with engines running while parents waited. I timed it and the average wait was 14 minutes. That's roughly 6 hours of idle time from that one lot, just on a random Tuesday. Everyone in my neighborhood Facebook group loves to bash EV drivers as smug, but nobody says a word about this. I used to think the EV push was mostly hype, but standing there breathing exhaust made me rethink my whole stance. Maybe the real climate action isn't buying a new car, it's just turning your key off. Has anyone else noticed this at their kid's school or is it just a Boise thing?

just turning your key off" is the whole thing right there. My kid's school has the same problem, maybe 20 cars deep and half of them are running the AC while mom sits there scrolling her phone for 15 min. Saw a guy in a brand new F150 let it idle the entire pickup line then peel out like he was late for something important. We all want to blame somebody else but nobody wants to change one tiny habit that costs literally nothing.
