The Saturday my whole plumbing job went right for once, and I can't stop thinking about it
Last month I finally tackled the leaky shutoff valve under my kitchen sink that had been dripping for two months. I shut off the main, got the old valve off in about 10 minutes, and the pipe threads were clean enough to just screw the new one right on. No torch, no cutting, no second trip to the hardware store, and the whole thing took 45 minutes instead of the full afternoon I had planned. I even had the exact 1/2 inch valve sitting in my garage from a project two autumns ago. My question is how often does everyone else get that lucky, because my next repair usually eats twice the time I plan for and I want to know if I'm the only one.
That is a rare gift, man. Had the same thing happen with a bathroom faucet cartridge last spring, pulled the old one out and the new one popped right in, no wrestling, no scraped knuckles. I spent the rest of the afternoon waiting for something to go wrong because it never goes that smooth. Most of my jobs turn into two trips to the store and a busted knuckle.
