Thought the breaker was the fix, but it took 4 hours to find a loose neutral in the attic
I was sure my garage outlets quitting was a dead breaker in my Amarillo house, so I swapped it out and still had nothing working. Turned out a wire nut in the attic junction box had come loose, and tracking it down with a $20 voltage tester ate up my whole Saturday morning. Anyone else had a simple electrical job turn into an all day attic crawl?

See, I'd push back on the whole "simple job" framing here. A dead circuit with a swapped breaker and still no power means you never had a breaker problem in the first place, the breaker was just the easy guess. A loose neutral in an attic box is exactly what a tester is for, and four hours is about right when you're hunting one bad connection across a whole house. Chasing a break in a circuit isn't simple work, it's just work people think should be simple.
