Picked a local artist's painting over a Midjourney print for my office and now I'm second guessing it
Last week I had $200 to spend on wall art for my new office in Sacramento and I was stuck between a framed Midjourney print I liked and a small painting from a local artist at a weekend market. I went with the painting because it felt like the fair choice, and it does look nice, but the AI image was honestly the one I couldn't stop thinking about. Now I'm wondering if I picked out of guilt more than taste. Curious how others here decide between a piece they love and one that feels like the right thing to buy.
There was a piece in the Times about how people regret buying AI art once the wow factor wears off, since there's no story behind it. A local painting has a name and a face attached, and that tends to stick with you longer than a print ever will. Give it a few months before you decide you picked wrong.
