Cold brew concentrate ruined my morning routine for a month

I tried making a big batch of cold brew concentrate from the trendy recipe everyone loves, but after three days of drinking it, my stomach couldn't handle that level of acidity. Turned out the dark roast beans I used were way too oily and it came out tasting like mud. Has anyone else had concentrate just wreck their digestion out of nowhere?

Spent 2 hours trying to spot a deepfake of my own mayor

I ran into this problem last week where a video of our mayor from Austin was going around saying he was closing all the parks. Took me way too long to figure out it was fake because the lip movements were nearly perfect. I finally zoomed in on the teeth and noticed they had no individual detail, just a weird blur. Has anyone else had to waste a whole afternoon debunking something that looked too real at first?

Found a loophole for bringing my Canadian bacon through US customs without hassle

I'm dual US-Canada and drive across the border near Buffalo pretty often to visit family. The problem was always my dad sending me home with a cooler full of real Canadian bacon and cheese curds. Customs would give me the third degree every time about dairy and meat products. After getting my stuff confiscated twice I tried something different. I started emailing the border crossing office ahead of time and asking for their specific rules in writing. Turns out if you have a signed email from a CBP officer saying your items are fine, they just wave you through. Been doing it 6 months now with zero issues. The trick is to ask about quantities under 20 pounds which falls under personal use exemptions. Any other dual citizens found weird little loopholes for moving stuff across their borders?

Ran across an old chimney sweep logbook from 1880 at a flea market in St. Louis

It listed a single sweep doing 12 chimneys in one day back then, which floored me since I'm lucky to hit 4 with modern gear. The entries mentioned using nothing but a brush and a cloth sack for soot collection. Makes you wonder how those guys managed without vacuum setups or masks, huh?

That talk with my uncle about chemtrails actually broke my brain a little

My uncle Dave (who runs a small HVAC repair shop in Tulsa) cornered me at Thanksgiving and started talking about how chemtrails are actually just normal contrails, but he showed me this old FAA manual from 1998 that listed the exact chemical mix. He said the patent for weather control goes back to the 1960s and it's all public record if you dig. I laughed at first, but then I looked up the patent number he gave me and it was real. He's not saying there's aliens or anything, just that the government has been spraying things for decades without telling us why. Has anyone else run into that old patent and thought it was a little too specific for something they claim doesn't happen?

The acting in 'The Room' is so bad I started laughing during the rooftop scene and couldn't stop for 10 minutes

I visited a little indie theater in Portland last month that does midnight screenings of bad movies. They showed 'The Room' and the audience was throwing spoons at the screen during that weird flower shop scene. The part where Tommy Wiseau says 'I did not hit her, it's not true, it's bullshit, I did not hit her, I did not' had me choking on my popcorn. Has anyone else caught a live screening with a crowd that made it even funnier?

Dropped $600 on a Fluke 787 and it saved my butt on a 737 nav issue last week

I was tracing a bad pitot static line on a 737 at KLAX and my old multimeter was giving me ghost readings. Bought the Fluke 787 from Grainger for $600 and found the break in 10 minutes. That thing paid for itself in one job. Has anyone else had luck with one of these or do you stick with cheaper meters?

Debate: Should you go it alone with a lawyer or use a disability advocacy service?

I had my initial hearing at the SSA office in Phoenix last year and got denied. A friend said use a lawyer who takes a cut, but another said go with a nonprofit advocate who works for free. Has anyone else tried both and seen a difference in outcomes?

The orbs really do sound like they're messing with physics, right? Found a stat about ear infections in divers that blew my mind

Man, that's a really good point about the drops themselves. I mean, I never thought about it that way but it makes total sense. Your ears have that natural wax and good bacteria that keeps things balanced, and dumping in drying agents everyday probably messes with that. Maybe it's just me but I feel like we're over-correcting by using so many products when simple air drying might be enough for most dives. I've started just tilting my head and letting gravity do the work for a few extra minutes instead of jamming drops in there. It's crazy how something so common can sneak up on you even when you think you're being careful.
