I finally beat the Water Temple using a notebook instead of a walkthrough
Got stuck in the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time for the third time in my life last month, and I was about to just look up a guide like usual. Instead I grabbed a cheap spiral notebook and drew each floor of the dungeon, marking every water level change and where each key came from. Took me 4 hours and 40 minutes but I never got lost once, and my old record with a walkthrough was around 3 hours. The funny part is I actually remember the layout now, which never happened when I just followed a video. I wrote down 13 notes total, and 3 of them were just "raise water, go to room with the block." If you replayed an N64 dungeon recently, did mapping it out by hand help or did it just slow you down?
