Serious question, I saw a 12 year old's AI drawing take first place at the county fair in Tulsa last month and it's been bugging me
I was walking through the art hall at the Tulsa county fair with my niece when I spotted the blue ribbon on a digital piece. The card said the kid was 12 and the medium was listed as "AI assisted" and nobody around me seemed to care. What got me was the kid next to it who did a watercolor of the same barn by hand and got third place. If a 12 year old can type a prompt and beat a kid who spent a week painting, what are we even teaching them about effort? Has anyone else seen this happen at a local fair or school show?
Man, that would bug me too, and I feel bad for the kid who put a whole week into that watercolor. It kinda stinks that effort like that gets beat by typing words into a box.
