Showerthought: my niece's AI drawing app turned her cat into a 6 legged blob and she entered it in her school art fair anyway
Last Saturday I was babysitting my niece in Lansing and she showed me this app on her tablet where you type words and it makes a picture. She typed 'fluffy cat on a rainbow' and out came this thing with 6 legs and 3 eyes, and she laughed so hard she nearly fell off the couch. Instead of deleting it she printed the blob out and glued it to poster board for her school art fair, and the judge gave her a ribbon for 'most creative.' Now I honestly can't tell if that app is making art or just making weird stuff that kids think is funny. Has anyone else watched a kid defend an AI picture like it's a real painting?

Six legged blob winning a ribbon is peak 2024 parenting right there. Kid's out here getting rewarded for typing prompts while actual art kids are crying into their crayons.
