Why does the art sub at my library in Toledo keep letting kids enter a prompt into a laptop and call it a drawing?
A judge at the teen art show on March 14th gave first place to a printout from a free image site. The kid typed maybe nine words. A girl who spent three Saturdays on a colored pencil piece got second. Her mom was crying in the parking lot. I asked the judge how she scored it and she told me the AI one had "cleaner lines." Cleaner lines. That's the bar now, a machine that never shakes and never erases. What do I even say to that girl next time she shows up with her sketchbook?
