Mid-level admin jobs are vanishing faster than entry level, and I found the stat

Honestly, I read a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics last month that said remote-friendly admin roles dropped 22% since 2022, mostly due to AI scheduling and email tools. My old office replaced two coordinators with one bot, so it checks out. Anyone else seeing middle positions disappear in their field, or is it just my industry?

Same thing happened at my last job. We had three assistant managers who handled client emails, meeting invites, and data entry. They got replaced by a CRM system and one chatbot in like six months. The scary part is the quality didnt even drop much. The bot handled 80% of the routine stuff, and the one human left just supervised it. I read that same stat and it hit close to home. My cousin works in HR and she said they stopped posting mid level coordinator jobs entirely, they just promote from within once someone quits. Its wild how fast this shifted, feels like the ladder just got pulled up from the middle.

Feels like the ladder just got pulled up from the middle" is EXACTLY it. That's the perfect way to say it. My company did the same thing a year ago. We had two project coordinators whose whole job was sending status updates and chasing people for info. They replaced them with a shared spreadsheet and an AI that auto-forms the emails. It was horrible at first, the AI kept sending passive aggressive reminders, but honestly after a month it was fine. The biggest shock was when we wanted to hire again, the job listing just said "exists on our automation team" which is basically one senior person plus bots. Nobody starts at the middle anymore. You either come in as an entry level grunt who does the boring stuff the bot can't, or you come in as a manager who fixes the bot's mistakes. There is NO in between now. I hate it because my first real job was that middle spot and it taught me how the whole business works. Now people just skip that step and jump straight to managing systems they don't understand.
