Started skipping the filler episodes on my second watch of Naruto

Ngl I used to force myself through every single filler arc because I wanted the full experience. Then I looked up a skip list online and cut 90 episodes out of Shippuden - best decision I ever made for my free time. Anyone else finally cave and skip fillers?

Overheard a guy at REI say his $5 Walmart tarp lasted longer than my $40 one

I was checking out tent stakes and this older dude told the clerk he's been using the same blue tarp from Walmart for 8 seasons while my fancy coated one got a hole after two trips. Has anyone else found cheap gear that actually outperforms the pricey stuff?

Almost lost a client when AI scheduling double-booked 3 calls on the same day

Last Tuesday I was at a coffee shop in Austin prepping for a client call when my phone started blowing up. Turns out my AI calendar assistant booked me for a 10am, a 10:30am, AND an 11am with different people from the same company. No idea how it happened, but I had to call each one and apologize, then manually shuffle everything. Took me 45 minutes to sort out and two of them were pretty annoyed. Has anyone else had these smart scheduling tools mess up this bad? I'm thinking about ditching the AI and just using a paper planner again.

Found an old timer's trick for seized exhaust bolts yesterday

I was working on a 2002 F-150 in my shop near Dallas, rusted exhaust manifold bolts were giving me hell. An old mechanic walked by and said to heat the bolt red hot, then tap it with a hammer before trying to turn it. I tried it and it worked on 3 out of 4 bolts, only snapped one. Got any other tricks for rusted bolts that actually work?

Ran into a guy at a con who argued subs are for purists and dubs are for normies

This was at Anime Central back in 2019. I was waiting in line for a panel and this dude next to me goes on a 10 minute rant about how watching dubs is ruining the industry. He said people who watch subs actually respect the original voice acting. I just nodded and said I watch both depending on the show. He looked at me like I insulted his whole family. Then he walked away mid sentence when I mentioned I liked the Cowboy Bebop dub. Anyone else run into people who gatekeep how you watch anime?

Tried a new drysuit zipper lube last week and almost got stuck on the surface

I used some cheap silicone spray instead of the usual wax-based stuff and the zipper seized up halfway during a dive in Puget Sound. Took me 20 minutes of wrestling to get it closed again. Anyone else had a zipper fail from using the wrong lube?

That time I forgot to add salt to 60 loaves of sourdough

Last Tuesday I was rushing through my morning prep at the bakery and completely spaced on adding salt to my dough mix. I didn't realize it until the first batch came out of the oven around 10 AM. The loaves looked perfect but the taste was flat and lifeless, like eating bread flavored cardboard. I had to toss the whole batch and start over, which set me back about 3 hours and cost me over $100 in flour alone. My boss was not happy and I felt like a fool standing there watching him taste it. Has anyone else made this kind of basic mistake and found a way to catch it before the bake?

Spent 4 hours trying to chase a creak on a customer's bike last week

Tightened everything, regreased the seatpost, swapped pedals, and it was the friggin derailleur hanger bolt loose. Anyone else have a simple fix that took way too long to find?

A customer told me my seams were too tight and I argued with him at first

Had this job last month in Naperville where the homeowner kept watching me work. He pointed out I was pulling the two pieces together too hard and said I'd get curling later. I was pretty annoyed cause I've been doing it that way for years. But I left one seam a bit looser on purpose and sure enough three weeks later the tight one was already peeking up. Changed how I do all my seams now. Anyone else have a customer call something out that turned out to be right?
