Just realized my reg number was wrong for 2 years because I copied a dive buddy's old log
So I was filling out paperwork at the shop in Morgan City last Tuesday and the clerk goes, this number doesn't match what's in the system. I looked at my log book and there it was, a digit flipped from when I copied a buddy's format back in 2023. I've been writing that same wrong number on every dive report, every JSA, every time sheet for 2 years. Nobody caught it, not one supervisor, not the medic, not the guy doing the audit in February. The scary part is I do a fair bit of chamber work and if something went sideways there's a paper trail that goes nowhere. Took me an hour with the office lady to get it sorted and I still feel dumb about it. Now I want to know, does anybody here actually check their own log against their cert card or do we all just trust what we wrote down the first time?
