Showerthought: My tape measure is safer than most AI tools I've tested
I install flooring solo, so I tried an AI layout tool last month to speed up measuring. It gave me a cut plan that was 4 inches off on a 12x15 room. Cost me half a day and a ruined sheet of luxury vinyl. Back to my tape and pencil. Anyone else find AI just adds more headaches than it saves?

Four inches off on a 12x15 room is brutal. That’s not saving time, that’s creating a whole new problem. Tape measures never lie, AI definitely does.

Right, because nothing says "professional remodel" like adding a four inch gap to a room that was already planned out. Now they get to explain to the client why their new couch is floating in the middle of the room, or why they need to order custom baseboards that cost double. Must be great to save an hour of measuring just to spend three days fixing a mistake that wouldn't have happened with a $10 tape and some basic math. AI probably told them the room was "approximately 12 feet" and called it close enough. Can't wait to see the look on their face when they realize the floorboards don't line up either.

Four inches off" is rough. That project's dead on arrival.
