Update: I tried using AI to write my shift handoff notes for a month, then went back to my own chicken scratch
I work nights at a distribution center in Fresno and write handoff notes for the morning crew every shift. Last month I started feeding my rough notes into an AI tool to clean them up, and it pumped out these nice tidy paragraphs in about 10 seconds. Problem was the morning lead kept coming back to ask me stuff that was already in the notes, because the AI smoothed over the weird details that actually matter, like which pallet jack is pulling left and which bay door sticks. So after 3 weeks I went back to my ugly bullet points with arrows and coffee stains, and the questions stopped almost right away. I think the messy version carried info the clean version dropped, stuff like "bay 4 door needs a kick" that no tool would ever add on its own. Has anyone else found that AI writing help actually hurts when the job is passing tiny real world details to the next person?
