Found out my air fryer runs 15 degrees hotter than the dial says, and it fixed my soggy wings
I was complaining to a coworker in the break room about how my wings kept coming out pale and rubbery after 25 minutes at 380, and she told me to grab an oven thermometer and check the real temp. I stuck one in the basket on a whim, let it run 10 minutes, and the reading hit 395, a solid 15 degrees above what the dial showed. Now I set it to 365 for wings and drumsticks and they come out with actual crispy skin instead of that sad steamed texture. I tested it twice more on different days and got the same gap both times, so it is not a fluke. Has anyone else checked theirs, and did yours run hot or cold?
Ha, so your air fryer is basically a compulsive liar and you had to catch it in the act. Love that a cheap oven thermometer did more detective work than you ever expected to do on a Tuesday. It makes sense though, those dials are just a suggestion, and mine is probably out here cooking 20 degrees off while I blame myself for the soggy fries lmao. The part that bugs me is that they can print a number on the front and it just means nothing, and we're all out here guessing like it's a game show. Now I want to stick a thermometer in mine just to find out what kind of lies it's been telling me.
