Finally figured out why my torque wrench kept failing calibration checks

Spent 6 months sending my Snap-on back to the shop every 3 months until a senior mechanic at ATL told me to stop storing it in the toolbox drawer with the handle cranked up. Has anyone else had a tool get messed up just from how you store it on the line?

Yeah thats a good point actually, I had the same thing happen with my torque wrench and it drove me nuts lol. Storing it cranked up messes with the internal spring tension over time, so even just clicking it down to zero before putting it away makes a huge difference.

My buddy stores his torque wrench in the case with the spring compressed and wonders why it reads low every time, never learns lol.
