Preventive maintenance is overrated on older turboprops
Everyone in this sub raves about swapping parts early, but I flew a 1988 King Air 200 for 6 years with a gearbox that was 400 hours past the recommended interval and it never hiccuped. I know it goes against the book, but how many of you have actually seen a part fail that wasn't already making noise, or is it just fear driving the PM schedule?
