Had a nightmare job in a 1920s house yesterday

The client wanted a wired system in a three-story brick home. Every wall I drilled into turned out to be solid masonry, and the old plaster just crumbled. I went through six masonry bits and the job took twelve hours instead of four. The homeowner kept asking if the dust would ruin her antique rugs. Anyone else have tips for running cable in these old brick monsters without destroying the place?

My old neighborhood was full of those plaster and lath walls.

Cole's old neighborhood must have been a drill bit graveyard.

Ever try a carbide grit hole saw for that stuff? I mean, they chew through the old plaster and lath way better than a standard bit. Saved my sanity on my last place.
