Pro tip: Ran Cat5 to door contacts for 4 seasons before a panel swap in Dayton showed me my splice mistake
I always twisted my door contact wires together and taped them, thought it was fine since the zones showed closed. Last week I swapped a 20-zone panel in Dayton and the tech helping me pointed out my twisted splices were reading 8 ohms on a run that should be near zero. One set of proper gel-filled connectors later and my false alarms on the back door dropped off completely. Any of you still crimping old-school, or did you switch over to connectors too?
