That new neighbor who keeps watering my lawn at 6 AM is driving me crazy

I've lived on my street in Edmonton for 8 years and never had this problem, but this guy moved in last spring and every morning he drags his hose over to water my front yard too without asking. He says he's just trying to help keep the neighborhood looking nice, but I have my own sprinkler system on a timer and now my water bill jumped $40 last month. Has anyone else dealt with a neighbor who won't stop doing yard work on your property?

You said "keeps watering my lawn at 6 AM" and that part really jumped out at me. It's like people have decided their helpfulness matters more than your actual boundaries. I've noticed this whole thing where folks think if they're being nice, it doesn't matter what you want. Like my uncle who kept giving my mom boxes of random kitchen gadgets after she said she was decluttering. He meant well but it just piled up on her counter. Maybe your neighbor thinks he's being a good guy, but you still have to tell him flat out, "Hey, I appreciate the thought but please stop." It's weird how common this is once you start paying attention.

Did your mom ever tell him to stop?

Ugh, tell me about it. I read somewhere that people do this because it makes THEM feel good. They get a little ego boost from "helping" even when you didn't ask. It's like your boundaries are just an inconvenience to their self-esteem project.
