Guy at a rest stop near Roswell showed me a photo of a craft, then asked for my hat
Pulled into a truck stop off US 285 outside Roswell in March and a guy in a camo jacket walked up while I was fueling. He showed me a Polaroid of a silver disc over a field and pointed at the date written on the back: 7/4/97. Then he asked if he could have my cap for "cover" and got in a van with no plates. Anybody else run into people out there who seem to be testing you?
Man, that is a strange one and I am glad you kept your head about you. Having somebody walk up at a lonely truck stop and pull out a photo like that would rattle me too, especially with the date on the back looking so planned out. The part about wanting your cap for cover is what really gets me, because that sounds like a test to see how you react or how much you will go along with. I have heard a few stories like this over the years, mostly around that part of New Mexico, and they almost always end with the person leaving in a hurry in a car with no plates. You did the right thing by not handing anything over and by getting out of there. Stay safe on those back roads, because there are folks out there who get a kick out of messing with people.
