Shoutout to the guy at the Mount Shasta gas station who showed me his night sky video
Two years ago I laughed at my brother for driving up to Mount Shasta every August to watch the sky, and I told him he was just burning gas and seeing planes. That night at the pump a guy showed me a 40 minute clip on his phone of a light that stopped dead, moved sideways, then shot straight up, and the timestamps on his phone matched his buddy's filming from a different town. So what's the bar here, do you need two separate cameras and a time stamp before you'll take somebody serious?
Sounds like a classic case of people wanting to believe so bad they'll accept anything. Two phones and a time stamp prove the clips match, not that the light was some craft doing impossible moves. Phone cameras smear and warp lights all the time, especially at night, so a blob that "shot straight up" could just be a shaky hand or a lens flare.
