I finally stopped skipping the OP and now I'm seeing shows differently
So for years I always skipped anime intros. Every single one. My friend Mark kept telling me I was missing stuff but I figured it was just time wasting. Then last month I watched Frieren with a group and someone pointed out that the second intro basically spoils the whole emotional arc if you pay attention. I rewound it and yeah, the imagery lines up with stuff three episodes later. Now I watch every OP at least once per show. It's crazy how much foreshadowing they pack in there. Has anyone else had that moment where an opening or ending theme actually made you understand the story better?
The outro for the second season of Mob Psycho 100 spelled out the whole ending for me with that countdown motif, and I felt dumb for ignoring it the whole time. Maybe it's just me, but I treat EDs now like the show's own spoiler-filled after-credits scene now, not just a song to skip.
