Figured out my shower curtain was growing pink slime every 3 weeks, the fix cost me $4

For almost a year I was scrubbing that cheap plastic liner with bleach every time it turned orange, which was every few weeks in my place on Staten Ave. My neighbor Deana glanced at it and asked why I wasn't just washing it in the machine with a couple towels. Tossed it in on cold with my regular detergent and it came out clean, then I hung it back up and it stayed clear way longer. Now I keep a second liner in the closet so I can swap and wash instead of scrubbing. Does anyone else machine wash theirs or am I late to this?
