Why does nobody talk about the free move-out inspection rule in Chicago
My landlord tried to keep $350 of my deposit last month for "normal wear," and I only got it back because I read the city's own checklist on the Chicago Renter's Rights page. Turns out Illinois law says they have to give you an itemized list within 30 days or they can't keep a dime. I printed the page and handed it over and the check showed up 9 days later. Has anyone else used their city's rental rules to push back on this stuff?
