That volunteer at the dig site who pointed out a flake I overlooked

Yes exactly @samk77, once you spot one of those pressure flakes you start seeing them everywhere... it's like a hidden language in the stone. Found a broken point in a dried-up wash last spring that had a textbook flake scar, totally changed how I look at every sharp-edged rock now. That little detail makes all the difference between a random chip and something someone actually worked on.

Vent: A guy at a comp told me to wrap in butcher paper instead of foil. He was right but I almost threw a fit over it.

Stubborn streak ruins way more than just brisket.

Just realized our book club debate about character deaths was totally one-sided

c'mon man, are we really turning book club into a CSI investigation over a fictional character's death? you missed some clues, okay. big deal. it happens. but acting like your whole stance was a giant screw-up because you didn't catch a dropped hint on page 112 feels a little dramatic. the author still made a choice to kill them off in act 2, and it's still fair to call that lazy if the payoff felt cheap on first read. foreshadowing doesn't automatically make a shocking death brilliant. sometimes it's just the author patting themselves on the back for being "clever.

Can we talk about the worst week I ever had building wheels?

Hmm, I've always found that kind of frustration usually comes down to rushing or not having the right prep, your mileage may vary though. Snapping spokes is rough, but I've had way worse luck trying to save time than just going slow and double checking everything from the start.

Made chili with canned beans versus dried beans side by side last Sunday and the texture difference was night and day.

Yeah, I felt the same way when I tried dried beans in my chili last month. The texture difference was huge, the dried ones stayed firm and didn't turn into paste even after reheating. For me, it was worth the extra time just to avoid that mushy canned bean texture, but your mileage may vary depending on how patient you are.
