DAE lose 3 days to a missing comma in your first Python script?
I spent 3 full days last month stuck on a beginner Python project and the whole thing came down to one missing colon after an if statement. I was following a free tutorial on YouTube and kept getting that red SyntaxError message, so I did what every rookie does and started changing random lines hoping something would work. I rewrote the whole thing twice, deleted my file, started over from scratch, even switched from VS Code to PyCharm because I thought the editor was the problem. Around day 2 I was convinced my Python install was broken and almost wiped my laptop to reinstall Windows. Then I posted my code in a Discord server and some guy replied in like 4 minutes with just 'line 12, you forgot the colon.' The fix took one keystroke after 3 days of panic. Has anyone else burned a ridiculous amount of time on something this stupid, or am I the only one who does this?
Three days for a colon though? That seems like a bit much even for a rookie mistake. Most people would just google the error message and figure it out way faster than that. Not trying to be a jerk but maybe the real lesson here is learn to read your error messages instead of reinstalling Windows.
