Appreciation post: the old timer at the parts counter in Fresno who said to check the door switch first on a no-heat dryer
Brought in a Whirlpool dryer last month that wouldn't heat, and this guy named Sal who's been behind that counter for 20+ years just said check the door switch before you touch the thermal fuse. I figured he was just trying to save me a trip back for parts, but sure enough the switch was toast and the fuse was fine. Told my boss about it and he said Sal's been giving that same tip since before I was born. Now I'm wondering if I should've been trusting the old supply house guys more instead of always pulling codes first, or if I just got lucky and Sal's tip only works on certain models. What's the best piece of counter advice you've gotten that actually panned out?
