Vent: Tried a new thermal fuse on a dryer and it blew again instantly.

I was sure the old fuse was the only problem on this Whirlpool model, so I put in a brand new 340-degree fuse from my supplier. The second I plugged it back in, there was a pop and the new fuse was dead. Has anyone else had this happen, and what else should I be checking first?

Classic. Your dryer just hates you. That pop is the sound of a dead short somewhere else laughing at you. Gotta check the heater coil like terry835 said, it's probably touching the case.

Tbh, reesej27 has a point about bad parts, but doesn't it feel like everything is just made worse now? I see it with cheap thermostats and control boards all the time, they fail right out of the box. You should check the heater coil for a dead short to ground before you waste another fuse.

Honestly, that sounds like you just got a bad fuse from the supplier, it happens all the time lol. People always jump to the worst case and start tearing the whole machine apart. I'd just try another new fuse first, maybe from a different batch. It's way more likely a fluke part than some crazy hidden problem.
