Tried a new rust converter on a '98 Tacoma frame and it totally backfired
Honestly, I used this stuff called Evapo-Rust Gel on a really bad spot near the rear leaf spring mounts. After 24 hours it turned the surface black like it should, but when I hit it with a wire wheel, the metal underneath was still soft and flaky. Ngl, I learned that some products just can't handle deep scale, and now I'm back to grinding it all out. Has anyone found a converter that actually works on severe rot, or is cutting and welding the only real fix?
