My friend's kid got a weird text about a package and almost clicked the link
I was over at their place last weekend and the kid, who's maybe 12, got a text saying a package couldn't be delivered. It had a link to 'reschedule delivery'. He was about to tap it, but his dad stopped him. The text looked real, with a fake logo and everything. It made me think how these scams are getting better at looking like normal stuff we see every day. They're not just weird emails from 'princes' anymore. I told him to always check the sender's number and never click a link in a text you weren't expecting. It's a small thing, but it really shows how they try to trick you when you're not thinking. Has anyone else seen these fake delivery texts pop up more lately?

Yeah, that bit about them looking like normal stuff we see every day is so true. It's scary how good they've gotten. My mom almost fell for one that looked exactly like her bank's fraud alert. They're banking on you being busy or worried and just clicking without thinking. Good on your friend's dad for catching it in time. It feels like you have to be suspicious of everything now, which is exhausting.

Actually, I see it the other way. We're making people too scared of basic things. @the_olivia, saying you have to be suspicious of everything is how you end up ignoring a real alert from your bank. Most texts are fine. That kid was probably just excited to get a package and clicked without thinking, which is normal for a 12 year old. The dad overreacted. It's just a link, and phones have good security now anyway. This constant fear of every single message is more of a problem than the few scams that actually work.
